Expanding
North
with Baltic Analog Lab (Latvia), Filmverkstaden (Finland), AVANT (Sweden), LIFT (Canada) and Polar Film Lab (Norway)
Expanding North is a project that unites artist-run film labs and cultural institutions that
work with expanded cinematic art practices providing a space for the creation, education
and circulation of analog film art in Nordic region and beyond.
Within two year period collaborating partners from Latvia (Baltic Analog Lab), Finland (Filmverkstaden), Sweden (AVANT), Canada (LIFT) and Norway (Polar Film Lab) are joining their forces to create visibility for expanded cinematic art providing a series of expanded cinema events, workshops sharing knowledge exchange between professionals and the younger generation, as well as residencies especially targeted for Nordic, Canadian and indigenous artists from Arctic regions. The aim for the residencies is to create collaborative audio-visual works that will be later presented at specially organised events and festivals in Nordic countries as well as outside.
